Workshop Content:

Your lessons are expertly sequenced and paced.

I attended a fantastic workshop and Music PD from Andrew Stopps where lots of fantastic new ideas and resources were shared with other music teachers who attended the PD , these resources will be very helpful when teaching composition in the classroom and I'm sure my students will enjoy also using them . The best workshop that I have attended this year ! and I look forward to future workshops.

"I really enjoyed finding out the process that musicians use and I would have loved to touch on lyric writing a tad more but all in all, it was an amazing learning opportunity." Miah Year 9

Recommend:

This was a really useful and engaging workshop, full of practical ideas for students to get composing. It was presented in a friendly and approachable way, and students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in effective discussions about the compositional process.

I really enjoyed that we were able to learn from someone professional in the industry, being able to learn about the compositional process and how to create a song/composition that is meaningful and evokes a range of emotions. It was rewarding to be able to share our ideas and knowledge with him and build upon these in a supportive environment.  - Reo

THANKYOU SO MUCH!! Great resources and delivered in a friendly way. Excellent!

I so appreciate your generosity, enthusiasm, and expertise, Andrew. Thanks for being so open with us about all your experiences and for giving us lots of great resources to work with. Thanks!

Structuring a Music program was a great PD which I thoroughly enjoyed attending and I came out of it with great new ideas and a new fresh approach to implementing a new curriculum design . This is perfect timing with our Teacher Accord day coming up early next term , where we have been asked to make decisions and develop material for our new Year 11 Music course next year.

The students all found the advice helpful and clear and are all looking forward to another one. They really enjoyed the opportunity for feedback on student work. Your approachable nature.

When planning courses and units for NCEA music, do you think about which standards you will offer and then write your course? Or do you think about what skills you want your students to gain during the year and then match the standards to the skills?
