This is a Secondary Music Workshop.
Dates: Monday October 4 and Tuesday October 5, 2021.
Location: Auckland.
Cost: $300 for both days, $150 for day 2 only. Please note, you must have attended the July workshop as a prerequisite for day 2 only.
There is a minimum number for the workshop to go ahead. You will be notified by email to confirm. One teacher per form please.
Day One: Structuring a secondary music program from Year 9 to Year 13 – Pt 1.
This workshop aims as a group to develop a scaffolded music program from year 9 – 13. It will be interactive with participants sharing and brainstorming together. If you completed the July workshop, you do not need to attend this session.
The workshop will include:
First session – planning and structuring junior music year 8/9 -10.
The Muscow method.
Taking stock.
Second session – NCEA music including planning for the new standards.
Combined class planning.
The Muscow method.
Taking stock.
Day Two: Structuring a secondary music program from Year 9 to Year 13 – Pt 2.
This is workshop follows on from part 1 and looks at the “nuts and bolts” planning of your secondary music program.
The workshop will include:
First Session –
First look at the “Secondary Music Guide”, all attendees will receive a review, draft copy.
Junior music (yr 8/9-10) program sequencing,
prioritising skills,
practical learning program,
creating a plan.
Second Session –
NCEA program sequencing,
prioritising skills over standards,
the new NCEA course,
creating a plan.
The workshops are interactive and you will be creating your course structure and sequencing during the workshop.
All attendees will have access to online and hard copy resources from the PD and ongoing online mentoring and support.
You will need your laptop at the session. There is also a minimum number of attendees required for the workshop to go ahead.
